WHICH FORMULA IS THE BEST?
In reality, there isn’t a single formula that works best for all babies. Some may thrive on one type while others may not respond as well. Ultimately, the best formula is the one that meets your baby’s individual needs.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT STAGE IS SUITABLE FOR MY BABY?
Each stage is specifically designed for a certain age range to ensure your baby receives essential nutrients and vitamins.
- Stage Pre: This formula is suitable from birth to 6 months and is easy to digest, as it does not contain maltodextrin or starch.
- Stage 1: Recommended for babies from birth to 6 months, it can be used on its own or alongside breast milk.
- Stage 2: Ideal for babies aged 6 to 12 months, this formula can be given alone or in addition to breast milk.
- Stage 3: Designed for babies and toddlers starting at 12 months and older.
WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE IF MY BABY IS SENSITIVE TO DAIRY PRODUCTS?
Many people confuse lactose intolerance with a dairy allergy, but they are different conditions. Lactose is a carbohydrate found in milk, and lactose intolerance occurs when the body struggles to digest it. In contrast, a dairy allergy involves an adverse reaction to the proteins in milk. For some babies, a hydrolyzed formula, which contains broken-down proteins, can be beneficial.
HiPP HA is a hypoallergenic formula designed for babies with sensitive needs. It uses hydrolyzed protein, which breaks down milk into simpler molecules that are less likely to provoke an allergic reaction.
If your baby is sensitive to both the protein and lactose in cow's milk, HiPP Comfort may be a suitable option. This formula features hydrolyzed milk protein, making it easier to digest, and contains lower levels of lactose, which can help with issues like colic, gas, and constipation.
If you're worried about cow milk allergies, you might consider a goat milk formula. The proteins in goat milk are smaller and easier to digest, and it contains less casein and lactalbumin, which can trigger dairy-related allergies.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO WARM UP FORMULA BY MICROWAVE?
NEVER use a microwave to prepare your baby’s feeds.
To warm formula, place the bottle in a mug of warm water for up to 15 minutes. Always test the temperature by placing a few drops on the inside of your wrist.
HOW LONG CAN I STORE THE FORMULA?
It’s recommended to prepare a fresh bottle of formula for your baby right before feeding, but sometimes that isn’t feasible. Here are some guidelines:
- Use prepared formula within 2 hours of making it and within 1 hour of starting the feeding.
- If the bottle has been cooled in a bag with ice packs, it can be used within 4 hours.
- Prepared formula stored in the fridge should be used within 24 hours.
- Discard any leftover formula at the end of the feeding to prevent bacteria growth.
HOW LONG CAN FORMULA BE STORED BEFORE IT EXPIRES?
HiPP and Kendamil formulas have a storage life of three weeks. It's important to keep them in a dry, dark, and clean location, preferably in a sealable glass container.
FORMULA DENTED CANS
Please be aware that these tins are made from a lightweight material and can easily dent during shipping, which is beyond our control. While they are shipped in new condition, dents may occur in transit. However, they are completely safe for consumption. HiPP has stated: “All tins are made from organic carton and do not contain any foil or metal parts. Therefore, dented tins do not pose any risk to the milk product itself. However, if a tin is severely damaged and the milk has come into contact with other products, we advise against using it for hygiene and food safety reasons.”
